Looking for a place to post your art and get feedback?

Hard round was initially a discord community separate from this site… and it still is! Come join us, post some art, give and get some feedback, and have a great time.

We try and promote a healthy approach to getting good at illustration, one where honest feedback, but empathy both exist in the same space.

If you like the sounds of this, come join the community!

Q & A

Where do I post art:

#Sketchdump is for general art, both sketches and finished work. If you aren’t after critique, please state it as it is generally assumed that you are posting in the community in order to get feedback. If you want targeted help on a problem, post it in #arttalk, specifying what you want and need help with.

I don’t feel confident giving feedback, should I still give it?

Try giving it as a question, such as “I’m not sure about how you drew X, do you think doing X might help?”. Asking questions about art, and testing assumptions on other peoples work is a great way to learn, and help others at the same time.

What if i disagree with a critique?

This is often an opportunity for a constructive conversation. Try and have an open mind, and see if you can get examples of it in context of other peoples art, or you openly disagree, have a discussion in good faith.

Always remember, people are trying to be helpful and most of us have also learnt through this give and take of critique!

If you don’t feel like discussing it, feel free to just say thanks and leave it however.

Rules:

POLITICS:

It’s almost inescapable to get away from politics in the modern world. We’re an art server, so we try and keep politics out of the conversation. In our experience it just makes for a much kinder art community.

NSFW:

While sexually explicit stuff is fine in the nsfw section, please don’t take it too far. No underaged characters, or extreme fetish work please. Mods are free to use discretion here.

DOGPILING CRITIQUES:

It can be soul-crushing for an artist to have a crowd of people all dropping feedback at once, so if there are people giving feedback, try and think about if this is the right time to add more onto it or not.

PIRATED CONTENT:

If a resource is commercially available to buy and under copywrite, do not link to illegal versions.
